 Peace

Peace......comes within the souls of men when they realize their relationship,
their oneness, with  the universe and all it's powers, and when they realize that
at the center of the Universe dwells Wankan-Tanka, and that the center is really
everywhere, it is with in each of us.

I've learned...
that we should be glad our Creator
doesn't give us everything we beg for,
especially the Mega bucks jackpot
at the Casino
'cause I know you wouldn't give me a loan
even if we're related ?

I've learned...
that money doesn't buy you class
but it sure makes us feel better when we
have some in our pockets.....
Just make sure you got no holes...

I've learned....
that it's those small daily happenings that
make life so spectacular and are OK,
but the big one really makes our life wonderful...
Like a new baby... what am I thinking,
I meant a new car.... LOL

I've learned...
that under everyone's hard shell
is someone who wants to be a turtle
so leave them alone...

I've learned.....
that our Creator took time to complete His plan -
and didn't look to complete it all in one day,
so doing things right may take me the rest of my life....
What makes me think I can do this on my own anyway?

I've learned...
that to ignore the facts
does not change the facts.

I've learned...
that the less time I have to work,
the more time I have to go to the garage sales,
flea markets, or going to all the feasts...

T
o all of you...

Do you know the legend of the Native Indian Youth's rite of Passage?

Do you know the legend of the Native Indian youth's rite of Passage?

His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him an leaves him alone.  He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it.  He cannot cry out for help to anyone.

[]

Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.

He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own.

The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him . Maybe even some human might do him harm. The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he sat stoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could  become a man!

Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold.

[]

It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him.  He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.

[]

We, too, are never alone.  Even when we don't know it, God is watching over us, Sitting on the stump beside us.  When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him.

[]

Just because you can't see God, Doesn't mean He is not there.

"For we walk by faith, not by sight."

From an E-Mail forwarded from Lara Manriquez

Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here.
Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go.
Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.
--Pueblo Blessing

If you liked this story, pass it on. If not, you took off your blindfold before dawn...

Govt Recommends NA Identification at Powwows
April 13, 2009
http://paganwiccan.about.com/b/2009/04/13/971.htm

A few weeks ago we talked about government agencies cracking down on the illegal killing of endangered birds
http://paganwiccan.about.com/b/2009/03/30/govt-goes-after-illegal-feather-trade.htm and sales of their feathers. Now, many of those same agencies are recommending that Native American dancers and performers attending powwows this spring may want to carry tribal IDs or Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood
http://www.indiancountrytoday.com/archive/42811352.html with them, just to avoid potential problems.

Native Americans may legally possess eagle feathers, including items passed down within a family or received as gifts from other Native people. The Fish and Wildlife Service says any Native individuals possessing eagle feathers or other such items should carry identification, in case they are questioned about having the feathers.

Some visitors to the annual Denver, Colorado powwow were concerned that their regalia might be seized due to the crackdown on illegal trade.

Steve Oberholtzer of the Fish and Wildlife Service said, "Those with eagle feathers would generally have the benefit of the doubt in terms of having eagle permit papers with them or of having to prove that the specific feathers or parts matched those on the permit issued by the FWS for lawful possession."
